Founded in 1940, Manitoba Pioneer Camp has been operating ever since as a life-changing summer camp for children and youth. It is part of a network of nine Inter-Varsity Camps across Canada.
Over the past 70 years, we have welcomed thousands of campers to our two beautiful islands in Shoal Lake. Our location is a special privilege from before the lake had road access. Since this is the source of pristine water for Winnipeg, new development is not allowed and we have access to dozens of wilderness islands to explore. We offer many activities, including archery, fort building, camp fires, fishing, arts, sailing and Bible study. Our Wildwise canoe trips offer some of the best canoeing instruction and experience available.
During the summer months, we run residential camps for youth between the ages of 8 and 17, providing a transformative experience for campers in a fun and caring environment. In this camp community, where leadership and faith development is encouraged, children and youth comfortably ask tough questions about life and faith. We believe that faith in Jesus Christ and an understanding of God’s love lead to a life full of purpose and meaning. Campers find answers and direction for life here. For 70 years, we have been helping children and youth develop into mature Christian leaders.
Inter-Varsity camps have a long history of helping children and youth grow emotionally, socially and spiritually. We believe that faith in Christ and an understanding of God’s love lead to an invitation to live sacrificially. At summer camp, children and youth experience a community that lives out Kingdom of God values, where they are encouraged to become leaders with a lifelong passion for following the examples that they are reading about in Bible study and seeing lived out around them.
Everything we do at camp is for the purpose of helping children and youth grow spiritually, mentally, socially and physically in a fun-filled and safe place of adventure and challenge. We invite campers to consider what the Bible has to say to them about their relationship with God and each other. Our staff are well trained to mentor and guide children and youth in all aspects of camp life, from developing skills to engaging in conversations about life and faith.
